I believe that advice for when to accept an offer during the Top Dollar bonus game has been discussed a few times. However, the only relevant discussion I could find is in a thread for another game.

Top Dollar is a strange one, does the game tell you whether keeping the win is Optimal or whether one should try again? I understand how the game works, but I've never played it. Does the game give the probabilities of hitting certain results?

I finally remembered last night to take a photo of the strategy guide. The strategy for accepting the offer is based on the offer amount. The 'best play says' that will be displayed after about 20 seconds is based on the strategy and is not a definite indication that the next offer will be higher or lower.
'Although individual results are random, the best overall strategy is to select [Take Offer]

If the 2nd offer is at least 45High limit slots strategy for real
Or if the 3rd offer is at least 35'

Note this is 'Double Top Dollar'. Original top dollar may be different. But if it is, I doubt it is by much.

In Top Dollar, if you watch the little screen, it will eventually give you advice, after about 20 seconds. It shows it quickly, so pay attention. You should follow this advice.

The key point that I want to make for this thread is that the 'Best play says' advice of 'Try Again' or 'Take Offer' is based solely on the strategy that can be found in one of the Info/Help screens. The advice of 'Try Again' does not guarantee that the next offer will be higher.

If it was me I would rather choose the Take offer. Choosing try again does not guarantee you anything. It is more risky than just taking the offer.

By that same standard, tossing a Jack of Spades that would otherwise start you with a pair of Jacks is more risky than holding the JQKA of Diamonds that you were dealt with it, which would you rather do?

On some machines this advice thing was hard to noticed. IIRC it slowly scrolls across the digital screen in green letters. I didn't really notice it at first, it's not like I had that many good opportunities to play it. I was just winging it on the last offer depending on how much it was.
I do believe MaxPen pointed it out to me, he also has some experience with TD. You can grab his attention, he's probably over gloating in the election thread.
On the rare occasions I have a good reason to play TD I now do what it says to do(I think The Wizard would agree) in the long run it should work out better for you. I had better results taking its advice. Legally I don't think they can offer long term bad advice. I wouldn't treat it any different than a table game or VP strategy. It may not work out each time, however in the long run it's the best way.

Probably not. And in New Jersey at least, they must offer the correct advice, or the game wouldn't be legal.

I play 3 Credit - $25 Dollar Top Dollar Deluxe at a 'Boutique' Casino in Eastern Pennsylvania. Its slowly becoming the game I transition more to, from $100 WOF.
I come up with this conundrum when playing, because I've had this happen multiple times
Offer 1 - 35 Credits (Pass No thanks) $875
Offer 2 - 100-10-5-X2-X2 = 460 Credits $11,500
I almost wish they would show you the offers you missed. Theres a part of me that wants to push it and go to the next offer, but in the 3 times its happened, I've taken the offer everytime. its a 25$ game, I couldn't imagine its average multiple payout much higher than that.
Honestly it has paid out more than the 2 Credit - 100$ Top Dollar games I've played at the Seminole Casinos in Florida (avoid them like the plague)

For those of you who like high-limit slots this is a great strategy. But first let’s talk budget. If you like to play high-limit slots then your budget needs to be at least $1,500. And that assumes that you are going to play $5 and $10 slots. If you like to play $25 a credit slots you should have at least a $3000 budget and if you like to play $100 slots then your budget should be $5000 to $10,000.

The second topic is why this strategy can work. But first you have to understand that an EPROM is no longer used, or if it is some of the active components have moved to the server. With server based slots the active software can be changed. The pay tables can be changed. The RNG can be fed different seed values affecting the outcome of the spin. In addition you can be monitored via image recognition software that has been around for quite a while now. Given all this, you are at a disadvantage if you play high limit slots. The goal of this strategy to help your budget last long enough to have some money when the slots finally turn on in the high limit area. Here’s how it works:

  • When you get to the casino, make a note of what time it is. Let’s say it is 7 PM local time.
  • Go to the high-limit room and try $100 in a $5/credit machine that has paid you in the past.
  • If that machine does not pay, then leave the high-limit room and find a quarter or penny machine that you can play and conserve your budget until an hour has passed.
  • When an hour has passed go back to the high-limit room and try another $100. This can be in the same machine or another machine that you have had some success on.
  • If the machine does not pay, leave the high-limit room and go play quarter or penny slots conserving your budget. Again, wait at least an hour before you go back to high-limit.
  • It may take a while, so discipline is good to have. Continue to cycle in and out of the high-limit room waiting at least an hour. Only invest a $100 or $200 of your budget in any one visit.
  • If you start to hit winners, make a note of the time. Stay in the high-limit room trying different games and denominations until the top of the next hour or the machines stop paying.
  • Don’t assume that high-limit will keep paying. Remember that the casino needs to take revenue in to pay money out. And in the course of the day, there is far more time when the slot machines are taking than paying.
  • Occasionally the slots will continue to pay for more than an hour but this is unusual.
  • In any given 6 hour session (or visit) at the casino, you will be lucky to get one good hour of slot play in the high-limit room. So if you do, congratulations! I hope you hit some nice winners.
  • But remember, if the machines have been paying, you need to walk away when you are on your third or fourth machine in a row and you haven’t hit anything. Losing on 3-4 machines in a row is a sure sign the pay tables have been replaced and the casino is back in take mode…
  • Try this high-limit strategy on a Wednesday or Thursday night. If it doesn’t work for you wait until you can afford another $1,500 and try it again on a different night of the week.

If you have success with this cycle in, cycle out strategy and hit one or more jackpots it’s important to document when you hit the jackpots. Taking a picture of your winner is best because the image will be stored on your phone. You can and should review your jackpots for patterns. For example, the day of the week and time of day. Are you hitting more jackpots on a Wednesday, or maybe Thursday? Are you hitting jackpots from 10 PM until midnight, or is it in the afternoons?

It may take some time, several months, even years, but if you use the cycle in, cycle out approach in high limit and document your winners, over time you should be able to fine tune your approach.
